Event Details

Join us for an evening of story, healing, and meaningful connection with author and survivor Loree Tamayo. Loree will also be joined by Amani Byrd and Cassie Schultz, two Case Managers for Yesterdays Gone.

What if healing didn’t start with fixing yourself—but with understanding your story?

Join us for an intimate and empowering evening with author and survivor Loree Tamayo, where personal storytelling meets practical healing. Loree will open the night by reading a powerful chapter from her autobiography, sharing her journey of surviving years of abuse and trauma and the path that led her to reclaim her identity, voice, and worth.

Following the reading, Loree will lead an engaging, interactive workshop rooted in her companion workbook. Attendees will explore emotions, recognize unhealthy patterns, and learn practical tools that support emotional growth and restoration. This portion of the evening is approachable, thoughtful, and deeply encouraging, whether you are actively healing, supporting someone you love, or simply seeking deeper emotional understanding.

This event offers a safe, meaningful space to pause, reflect, and take the next step forward at your own pace.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Loree Tamayo is an author, speaker, consultant, and fellow abuse survivor whose life’s work is centered on helping women rediscover their identity and strength. Because of the trauma and abuse she endured in her adolescent years, Loree found herself unconsciously drawn to unhealthy relationships. Leaving her abusive situation became the catalyst for deep self-reflection and lasting change.

Through years of therapy, reading, and intentional application, Loree discovered that true healing begins with identity. Today, she is passionate about equipping women with the skills, tools, and resources they need to heal, grow, and thrive. She shares her journey through speaking engagements, workshops, and curriculum designed to empower women at every stage of their lives.

Loree is the founder and Executive Director of Yesterday’s Gone, a nonprofit that helps women transition from domestic violence shelters or safe houses into independent living with strength and dignity. She is also the founder of Defining Tomorrow, which provides emotional education, support groups, and healing resources to women nationwide.

A portion of the proceeds from Loree’s books sold supports the mission of Yesterday’s Gone and the women it serves.

Amani Byrd serves as the Director of Communications and Outreach for Yesterdays Gone. Amani earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. Her time there prepared her not only academically, but also spiritually, for the calling she now lives out through this work.

Cassie Schultz serves as the Client Resource Coordinator for Yesterdays Gone where she walks alongside other women on their paths to healing, helping them navigate vital resources and facilitating remote support groups where compassion and understanding guide every conversation.
