Join us for a free beginner-friendly introduction to the world of zines! Zines are small, analog, self-published mini books that can be used to share stories, ideas, artwork, poetry, activism, fandoms, and just about anything else.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the history of zines, discover both physical and online resources for aspiring zinesters, and practice folding a few different styles of zines. Everyone will leave with the knowledge and inspiration to continue creating on their own. Materials will be provided.
This workshop is the first event in a community zine series. Participants are encouraged to take their zines home, make copies, and bring them back to Lark & Owl for a Zine Swap on Saturday, September 12, from 4:00–5:00 PM, where creators can trade zines, discover new voices, and celebrate the creativity of the local community.
About our host: Jami Moore is an elementary art teacher, zinester, and passionate advocate for creativity as a tool for self-expression and community building. She loves making art accessible to everyone and believes zines are one of the most empowering ways to share ideas, stories, and passions—no artistic experience required.
